Afrikaans Grammar Checker

Fix the double nie, word order and spelling in Afrikaans text.

What the Afrikaans Grammar Checker does

Afrikaans looks easy on the surface, with no verb conjugation for person, but it has rules that catch people out. Negative sentences usually need a second nie at the end, verbs move to the end of subordinate clauses after words like omdat and dat, and diacritics such as ê and ë change both spelling and meaning. Compound nouns are written as one word. This checker fixes all of these.

It suits learners at school and university, English-speaking South Africans and Namibians writing in their second language, and Afrikaans speakers checking reports or posts. You get the corrected text and a short list of what changed, such as a missing final nie, a verb moved to the end of an omdat clause, or 'se' corrected to 'sê'.
