Bibliography Generator

Turn a messy list of sources into a clean, alphabetized bibliography in the style you name.

What the Bibliography Generator does

Most people collect sources as they go: a copied link here, a book title there, an author name scribbled from a lecture. When the paper is due, that list needs to become a consistent bibliography. This generator takes the whole messy list at once and returns it formatted in one style, alphabetized and ready to paste at the end of your work.

Name the style you need, APA, MLA, Chicago or Harvard, at the top of your text; otherwise APA 7 is used. Every entry is built only from what you pasted. Where a publisher, date or page range is absent, a marker shows the gap and a list at the end tells you what to track down.

How to use it

01

Paste all your sources, in any order or format, and name a style.

02

Press Generate.

03

Copy the alphabetized bibliography and fill in the flagged gaps.

Group projects

Questions

Which styles are supported?

APA 7, MLA 9, Chicago notes-bibliography and Harvard. For AMA, IEEE, CSE, Bluebook or BibTeX, use the dedicated generators on this site.

What happens if I don't name a style?

It uses APA 7 and states that on the first line of the output.

Will it fill in missing publishers or dates?

No. It never guesses. Missing details are marked in the entry and listed at the end.

Does it keep hanging indents?

The output is plain text, one entry per line. Apply the hanging indent in your word processor after pasting.
